The Ambassador Garden Home is a boutique style hotel located in the heart of Thamel. Unlike many other hotels in this area they are set back from the noisy streets and offer some of the cities best service.
Open since 1972 with only 18 rooms attention is given to every detail. Outside to the rear is a small but very nice garden patio which is wonderful haven away from Thamel’s congested streets.
There’s a 24 hour generator on site which manages to run the Air Conditioning units even during one of Kathmandu’s many blackouts.
Rooms & staff
Rooms at the Ambassador Garden Home are mid-sized but very well serviced. Again the hospitality shines through with a complementary mini bar, fresh water everyday, a fruit bowl and a newspapers delivered in the morning.
It’s touches like this that make the Ambassador a touch above the rest in Kathmandu
The only downside is that if you are light sleeper you should avoid the three front facing rooms. All the other rooms are very quiet though and you can change once you arrive if you so wish.
I found the staff to be very good with courtesy and helpfulness being above most other places.
Summary
There’s not a lot wrong with the Ambassador Garden Hotel when it comes to finding the right place to enjoy your stay. Yes, it’s pricey compared to some other hotels but you get a great location and a superior service that makes your holiday in Kathmandu that much more enjoyable!

Room prices I was quoted
Rooms ranged from $60 upwards to over $100 with a very nice breakfast included in all the prices. Do avoid the 3 front facing rooms as they can be noisy at night. However all the other rooms are very quite in comparison. You can change room once you arrive as the service is here is very good.
