Yes, it was a bad room. But honestly, I’ve never had a problem with Manila taxi’s. I don’t take one without a meter. And, if they refuse it’s usually due to high traffic. In which case I will take a jeepney as it takes the same about of time. Otherwise at worst, I agree a price first, and I record the conversation on my cellphone. If there’s a problem, I offer to call the police for him after showing the video of him agreeing. Problem goes away straight away.

The taxi men aren’t nice.
None of them will use a meter like they’re supposed to use and will ask for up to 3 times the price it would and should cost with a meter.
Sounds like you got a shitty room thought, hated arguing with people over a few hundred pesos but it’s the principle.
