It's a two way road to finding home

I think it's safe to say that you must have found something useful or helpful on this site, otherwise you would have left a while back!!

As you would have gathered by now I have been doing this for a while. I've met many great people along the way that have helped in one way or another. And I always hope to return the favor.

That is what part of this site is about. However I do run into problems every now and then. So if you think you can help with any of the things I have listed below, then please get in touch!

In the meantime, I hope my contributions on this site have been able to give back what I have learned along the way on my journey. If there's anything specific you think I can help you with. Then please also get in touch.

If you'd like to support me and the website then consider taking a look and buying your travel guide books / novels / movies from my review page. You're buying direct from Amazon at their prices, but they give me credit for each sale made through here. Any credit I earn will go towards buying a new travel book to help me on my way!

My wish list:

A Job - Yep, money is tight these days. From my blog you can work out where I am. If you know anyone hiring in this area or nearby (i am global after all!), then please let me know. If it means staying a while, so be it! I have a background in Sustainable Development, IT teaching and Development, Small Business Management, Photography, Website design and Travel Writing.

Travel Insurance - Anyone know of potential sponsors? It's turning out to be a big expense, and one that I need to cover. I know a lot of travellers don't use insurance, but without a family or support network it's really something I need in case something bad happens. For anyone looking themselves I did a review of travel insurance companies here.

Meeting Up - If you are living in any of the places I am passing through. It would be great to meet up. I guess this site tells you more about me, so you have me at an advantage! I would like to learn a little about what it's like to live in a country you are in. I don't mean living as a local, but living as a foreigner in the country. Which I would be!

Local Life - One of the things I treasure most about traveling is meeting local people. I really enjoy listening and learning about life in a country. No matter who you are, what you do or where you're from - if you'd like to meet up, then get in touch.

Guest Houses / Hotels / Internet Cafes / Travel Agencies e.t.c. - If you own or work in one and would like me to review it. Then get in touch. I get many requests from people asking about the places I've been, and many are mentioned in the countries I visited sections. So it's good advertising for you (provided its a good service of course!) Just contact me with your details and we'll see if our paths can cross. I don't except paid reviews by the way. I'll only ever review or recommend a place or service I've used.

A Publisher/Agent - The book is done. It's a fictional travelogue. If you know of an agent or publisher who would be interested then please let them know about me, and I can send them a manuscript or query letter.

This Site: General - the site is hosted on a free server, I hope the ads on the site will cover the cost of hosting it permanently. Update: I am delighted to say that displaying some direct advertiser/affiliate links has enabled me to move to a paid host. It's the lowest package they have, and only for one year: but it does mean I am now in the process of taking down regular ads and making the site that bit better looking. Update: over the past few months the number of viewers on this website has increased dramatically. As such I am once again battling with the costs of hosting this site.

I do most of my work on this site from the road, so if you spot any mistakes, broken links etc and think you could help out, I am all ears!

This Site: Advertisers - There are some prime areas where you can advertise on this site. However, they should be related to the content. Please state your rates, running time, advertisement content and ad location when getting in contact

A Mailbox - Sounds strange. But without a permanent abode I am stuck for a place to receive even a letter. If you think I'll be passing through your area, and you don't mind holding onto a letter it would be of great help!

Trekking Boots - Yep, I am on my third pair. And they are tearing apart from the inside. Not sure how to go about solving this one. If you know a way, let me know eh?! I have been through a pair of Mendel boots here, an Italian pair, current. And a pair of non backpacking boots. Strangely all these new super design boots are the ones falling apart after a year?!! Some good news at last. I found a little man who actually didn't mind spending 30 minutes machine stitching the inner lining back on! Most people I found outside of Nepal were either not interested, or just wanted to glue things back. It's quite a relief, as my heels were begriming to blister from this. I know that new ones are still needed down the road, but really the guy did a great job for the price of a meal! I will do a blog update on this soon. In the mean time I am striking this one off the list! Update: I have to look out for a new pair again. The soles are not so great anymore, and they are no longer water resistant as I recently discovered. Biggest issue is I can't seem to find any good trekking stores with reasonably priced boots.

A Home - I saved the most important to last. I spent a lifetime getting this far, and am not about to give up. I truly am searching for a place called home. Read the about section for more info. I am not asking for where you think a good place would be, it's a relative and an individual thing. This much I know. But if you have ever met, or are a person on a similar quest and found home. Let me know ...

A note to overzealous business types, please don't send me links to things I can't afford to buy! AKA spam. Thank you.
