Many of the Tibetan refugees in Nepal help to sustain the settlement camps by selling handmade goods. Here this Tibetan lady is working on a loom to weave a carpet. These traditional carpets are then displayed and sold to the general public.
The Tashi Palkhiel Tibetan Refugee Settlement Camp in Pokkhara is one of four in the area. There are 12 offical settlements in Nepal but many more smaller unoffical villages in the surrounding hillsides. Refugees often come down to the cities to sell their products.
