By sheer coincidence with this update I just noticed the timer on the site ticked over to 4 years today. That's four years on the road traveling in search of home, and a lifetime trying. I'll be writing a journal update about this in a few weeks to coincide with a few other things. The internet is very bad where I am right now, and the weather worse! Anyway I've just put up a new article, How to Travel Overland into Tibet (How to Travel Overland into Tibet). It covers my route, facts, some useful travel information and hopefully will help others out too. This website is also now available on Alltop.com/
It seems like the cable cut in Europe/N. Africa is effecting this part of SEA. The internet is fast, but I can't get to very many domains without using a proxy. But I did get a chance to update a fix on the blogt(Travel journal/blog) page.
I have removed the Amazon flash scripts as they seemed to be causing content errors on FF3. I also finally got a chance to move the page into the standard template. It's a little narrower, to match the rest of the website. No other difference other than it's now loading a lot faster.With hopefully no errors.

I have also completed some changes to the Stories page (Travel Stories) It will now have a focus on travelogues from me, and stories about some of the local people I have met on my travel search. "The People I met" Real World. Real People. Real Stories. Much more interesting I think. Particularly as my own travels often take me into local peoples lives as I look to see if I could live there as well. I think it will provide a new insight into my life on the road, and the site. To kick things off I've included a story about the Truck Painters of Pakistan (The Truck Painters of Pakistan). Let me know what you think about the new section?
New RSS & Email: It's taken a while but finally The Longest Way Home feed is live. If you are currently subscribed to the site feed (page2RSS), or the journal feed and are quite happy with it, then nothing changes. If you want an all in one combined feed then it's now available here(Link)It will deliver both Journal and site updates to you. It will also let you in on some behind the scenes information about traveling around world in search of of home. Meanwhile I am currently suffering from something I ate, and am pretty low. I'll do a bit of site wide updating. I also just got a comment on the blog section about winning a Blog of The Day Award which was a good pick me up.
New Page Added, Travel Reviews (Travel Reviews) A review section based on my own reviews, with reader input. Covering Travel Novels, Travel Guide Book and Travel Related Movies. I will be writing up reviews whenever I can, as you can see the scope is huge. And I have plenty of material. There are also some things that need to be added to the page (UK amazon shoppers for example) but for now, it's a start on the new review section of the site.

I forgot about my poll on whether or not to have photos included on my stories page. The results were 100% yes to include photos. With the majority preferring photos to be linked into the Travelogue / Story rather than at the bottom. So be it then. (stories)
A rather large update of little interest. I finally got finished with updating the archive section of my journals. (Journal Archives) But, in other news there should be a couple of substantial changes to the site over the next two weeks. I am just finishing off some tests and will roll them out next week.

A few people have been asking about the Turkish Iranian border crossing. So I have just put up a detailed account on crossing the Turkey Iranian border from an overland perspective (Turkey to Iran Overland)
Due to an over whelming poll majority so far, I have now added edited photos into my Tibet Riots Travelogue (Surviving the Riots in Tibet.) Looks like people want the photos in the travelogues! Only two weeks left to vote! I have also added in a local time in the nepal page as a test. Let me know what you think?

Site Update: As you know the free host for this site is moving and it's caused some problems. The site was down last week for a day and then again for a few hours. It's now back up. But I noticed the feeds were a little jumbled. The latest ones are below. I expect another few days of intermittent problems and will let you know when all is well again!

Important! I just learned that from today 14th Oct until 22nd Oct my free host will be moving their servers and so there may be times when the site is down. They assure me in a weeks time everything will be better, faster and ... well you get the point. Apologies if any one experiences any problems for the next week. The blog will still be up, as it's on a different host! Meanwhile I will have a string of updates building up release next week!!
