What's the best To Do / Task Reminder app for android when traveling?

To-Do App = A reminder application presented in list, task or calendar format. I often need to write things down in a list to remind myself about them.

Examples are often shopping lists, website updates, things to fix, visa expiry dates and even little notes. Sometimes I want these lists to remind by that they need to be done by a certain date too.

Many of todays phones have built in apps. But are they better than the rest?

Android to-do apps come in handy. But there are so many to choose from. Which one is the best? Read on ...

What I'm looking for in a to-do / reminder app:

Ease of use. Displaying tasks or reminders easily. Speed of entry. Alarm / snooze function.

I really use to-do apps a lot. I've found them invaluable to remind me of things that are repetitive but important, and also to list things out.

The biggest issue has been ease of entry. Ease of reading. And good fast reminder alarms.

To-Do / Task Reminder Android apps for travel

AnyDo:

A nice app that does the basics

Pros:
Clean interface
Adds tasks easily
You can add notes
Backups

Cons:
Adding reminders takes a little longer than it should
Time zones seemed to get mixed up
Hard to edit titles
Hard to create lists other than to create a note

Comment:
There's very little I don't like about this app. It works, and works quite well. It does take a few extra buttons to add a reminder which can be annoying. I found it difficult to edit title tasks. And lists of tasks were hard to create.

Taskos (closed): Lot's of potential but let down by a crazy date entry system

Pros:
Fast
Looks good with nice priority colors
Easy to use swipe functions

Cons:
No calendar function so manual input of dates
No backup

Comment:
I liked this app until I tried inputting a reminder date. You have to add the date in text format. There's not calendar. If they could add a calendar this app would really be worth having. At the moment though it languishes. .

Tasks+ (closed): Takes on a different method of tasks and reminders

Pros:
Easy to view tasks
Lots of options
You can see past completed tasks

Cons:
Takes a long time to add a task
Ad's on the bottom of the screen
No backup

Comment:
Tasks+ took a while to get into. If you are looking for a complete solution this might just be for you. With many options it's got something for everyone. Unfortunately there's no back up. To invest this much time in an app and not back things up is a shame. Something the pro version should consider.

ToDo Task Manager: One of the better To Do apps with little to fault

Pros:
Lots of options
Priority and percentage complete lists
Fast with good reminders
Themes and highly customizable
Backups

Cons:
There's a learning curve to get the most out of this app
Widget is poorly designed and not very functional
Ads on free version

Comment:
ToDo List Task Manager is my second choice in preferred apps. It works extremely well. There are many options to choose from and the addition of a back up to many formats is great. A poor widget and ads in the free version let it down a little, but it's still a good choice.

Keep (Google): One of the better apps, until Google changes it all

Pros:
Clean interface
Easy to add tasks
Integrates with calendar

Cons:
Interface was much better before the glaring new one

Google has a habit of closing apps down

CComment:
Keep is one of the easiest task apps out there. It works simply. However, it worked with a wonderfully low-key interface when it first arrived and was then updated to a rather garish color scheme.

Cons:
Reminders sometimes spring up early

Comment:
Tasks is my top choice for a to do task app on Android. It works quickly, is easy to use, and has all the options you could want. I've feedback from their support team on any issues. What more could you want from a free app!

GTasks: Strange name, but it really get's your tasks in order

Pros:
Clean interface
Easy to add tasks
Nice calender function
Linked with Google account

Cons:
Not too many options
Yet another app linked to Google

Comment:
GTask has improved greatly recently. The app simply works well and you can easily synch it with your Google account. This might be a worry to many who so much already linked with Google. That said it the app is very functional and works well.

To Do task app recommendations:

Whenever I have a project, I use task apps. They help tremendously when you are constantly on the move. Add a to-do list, edit a task, or simply start marking objects off.

I'm constantly on the move and want something that's reliable and will work in tough WiFi/mobile situations.

The apps that stand out for me are Astrid & To Do Task Manager, followed by GTasks. Quite frankly, all others pale quite a bit in comparison.

Be careful of to-do apps that are taken over by other companies. It's important to read their notes before updating an app. The service may change, and it may no longer be what you want. Thankfully, there are plenty more to-do apps out there!
