The Machchhendranath temple is dedicated to the god of rain by the same name.

The story goes that the god of rain rescued the city from a drought by freeing some rain serpants that had been trapped in a well.

The Machchhendranath temple is one of the few places in the Kathmandu valley where you can get a clear view inside where there's a statue of Machchhendranath.
