Announcing a new feature: photographs from the gallery

It’s time to know the story behind this photograph!

The Details Behind those Gallery Photos!

I’ve been working on something in the background for quite a while now that I think is ready for prime time.

Over the years I’ve aimed at keeping my Photography Gallery small in terms of the amount of photographs displayed.

I prefer it that way. I see many “Photo Galleries” with pages upon pages of photographs from one country or another. I don’t know about you, but I find it hard to sit through them all sometimes. Many are simply repeats of the same scene. Or quite honestly, not that interesting. And, when I do browse, it’s more like … click, click, next, next, scan, scan.

Aside from all that, as I’ve mentioned, my gallery is just meant to be my wall for hanging some of my own favourite photographs.

Simple as that. It is, however, the third most popular page on this website! And, with that I have received many questions about several photographs on the gallery. Where were they taken? Do they mean anything? Is there a story behind them? etc,

I’ve also rarely published any of these photographs here on my journal. And, certainly not on this scale of size. On a recent survey with the great member subscribers here; over 90% said they would like to see me publish more photographs.

So with that, this is the start of a new feature.

Large format photographs

Each week I will publish a large-sized photograph from my gallery with a full explanation about what it is, the background/history, and my personal snippet about why I took it. All of which will give you an insight into why it’s one of my personal favorites.

Photographs that you can vote on!

You will also have the ability to vote on a photograph if you also like it. Changing a few photos around on anyone’s gallery wall is always good!

The more votes, the more chance it will have at staying in the gallery, or getting promoted to the gallery.

Yes, that means there will be some new photographs popping up that you will also have a say (vote) on in getting it into the gallery!

Like I mentioned in my members only newsletter, this is just an idea. Aside from anything, it’s about time these photographs have some explanation behind them rather than titles.

What’s more, as I put them together, I’m really enjoying writing out the detail and history behind each photograph. This, I promise, will be no run of the mill photo post series.

I’ve set these posts up for you a little differently on the main website. The photos won’t show on the main blog/journal page as they are too big! So they’ll have their own new template which you’ll need to click to view.

As there are many email clients out there, some may not show the photography in its full size either.

If that’s the case for you, then click here to come see this post in super sized format live online now!

I hope you’ll enjoy this new series as much as I am putting it together!
